was watchin dat jalan programme on suria last nite when suddenly sumting striked me..
wad would we(singaporeans) be if there isnt such a thing called ships?colonialism?
why ships you ask?if people of the past did not knoe how to build ships,probably sang nila utama would never leave palembang..and singapore would remain temasek..just imagine even if he did manage to reach singapore despite the thunderstorm on a canoe..
and we all would be wearing those kain batiks wrapped around our waists..never in a lyfetyme we would wear or even see a pair of trousers..kan kan?wif blangkons(dat wak jawa kinda songkok) on our heads..
its definitely a wander how those people learnt the craft of ship building rite?furthermore the ships were made of wood..able to withstand the fierce oceans etc..

my point is..would we be who we are today?would my name still be hafeez and not sum tongue twisting name..would we live the lyfe of peasants?me dragging a lembu buffalo to plough land for my family to plant wheat or rice..
*im trying to picture the scenario*wakaka
no computers(kids would be playing around half naked),no television(probably we have those tok selampit kinda thingy,sumwan telling stories on the streets),no magazines,no cinemas(probably we would all be anticipating the weekly wayang kulit on sum dirt field)no handphones(we'll walk over to our fren's house just to say "hello")no macdonalds hamburgers etc(probably they would have invented fan-tastic before macdonalds)no this no that..
